Genre and Conventions
Today this third blog will cover my movie genre and my movie genre's convention of themes, styles, characters, (etc.).
Growing up as a child, I have always enjoyed comedy movies, and nearly all of my favorite films/TV shows are within the comedy genre. In my opinion, comedy movies and TV shows are the backbones of Hollywood and Hollywood actors/actresses.
Now I am discovering I like horror, thriller, suspenseful, and psychological genre of movies. They make me think about things I would have never second-guessed and leave me at the edge of my seat. I am always asking myself questions such as "what is next?" "what's going on?" and "who is that?" while I am watching horror, thrillers, psychological, and suspenseful movies.
Therefore, I have concluded to make a combination of both genres for my film opening project. I am going to produce a horror movie with a comical theme/storyline to it.
Movies such as Happy Death Day, A Haunted House, Meet the Blacks, Goosebumps, and Ghostbusters are comical and entertaining movies. Yet, they include a horror storyline that will make its audience suspenseful and question what will happen next.
The inspiration for my film opening bases on Tyler Perry's BOO!, Happy Death Day, Meet the Blacks, and A Haunted House.
My idea to enhance the film's storyline would include creating normal and relatable characters so the audience can connect to the characters within the film. However, the storyline and film opening style would be an irregular predicament that is unavoidable and repetitive, including horror/suspense. For instance, Happy Death Day included an ordinary college student who's birthday also happened to be her death day. However, her birthday and death day was repetitive, and her obstacle was to figure out how to diminish that unavoidable repetition before it was too late for her.
I believe this project will be entertaining for not only my audience but for myself. I know I will have a blast filming, acting, stylizing, and scriptwriting.
