Sound and Auditory Elements

Hello, my fellow blogger blog entry readers! Welcome to my 19th blogger blog entry post for my final project's film opening.

Today I will discuss auditory elements and sound within the two-minute film opening.

My final project's two-minute film opening is a horror and comedy movie. the film includes real events from the year 2020 and covers significant events by each film scene.

Audio is one of the significant elements of mise-en-scene within movies and TV shows. In today's society without audio, not much can be communicated on the movie and TV shows unless it is a silent film.

There will be auditory elements such as diegetic and non-diegetic sound within the film opening. For those who don't know, diegetic sound identifies as any sound within the film where the audience understands where it is coming from inside the film. However, non-diegetic sounds do not originate from the film, and the audience does not know it comes from outside the film. Examples of diegetic sound would be dialogue, object sounds, and music. On the other hand, examples of non-diegetic sound are the film's musical score, sound effects, and narration/voice overs.

My film opening, of course, includes dialogue and sound effects.  All the scenes within my final project's two-minute film opening have character dialogue.

The film's audio will be recorded with a video camera. Some aspects of diegetic sound will be recorded in a separate audio system. For instance, there is a scene where protestors are yelling, that audio is diegetic because the audience can identify that sound's root. However, since there are only four group members for this project, the sound of the protestor's yelling will have to be recorded separately.

As far as non-diegetic sounds within the film, I will record all non-diegetic sounds using a separate audio system so that the audio will be heard easily by the audience.
