Decisions on Sound, Sound Effects, and Lighting

Hola, blogger entry readers! This blog entry is my 25th blogger entry for my final film opening project. Today I will discuss decisions on Sound, Sound effects, and lighting. So far, my group and I are about to begin stage 4 of the film opening project. Stage 4 consists of production, casting, editing, and scheduling. This week my group and I will start recording our scenes together at a park.

Our film will primarily include dialogue, but it will still have sound and music. For sound, most will be diegetic and visible to the audience, but there will be a display of non-diegetic sound. Diegetic sound identifies as any sound within the film where the audience understands where it is coming from inside the film. However, non-diegetic sounds do not originate from the film, and the audience does not know it comes from outside the film because it is not onscreen. Sounds such as cars driving by, police sirens, and ambulance sirens will be in the film opening.

As far as lighting, the two primary kinds of lighting will be high-key and low-key. The high-key lighting will be used b in more up toned and comedic scenes. However, low-key lighting will be used in more serious scenes that include horror.

Not many sound effects will be applied in the two-minute film opening besides sirens, shouting, and footsteps. Maybe my group will discover more sounds and sound effects to add within the short film opening.

We don't have an official decision on sound and sound effects, but we are aware of applying diegetic and non-diegetic sounds. Some sounds will come from the audio on our filming device, and others will come from a separate audio file and will have to be edited into the opening.  The group and I will figure out elements of mise-en-scene as we film.
