Conventions of Titling
Howdy blogger entry readers! Welcome to my 37th blogger entry!
Today I will discuss titling conventions within the horror genre and Beware of the 20's title sequence.
Film openings and title sequences establish the genre through conventional elements. There are innumerable infamous and standard conventions applied in horror film opening and title sequences. For instance, there is an overused application of low lighting, eerie music, a white on black background, a red on black background, and an italicized font in horror.
Frequently, in horror films, the title sequence contains a black background with a red text containing the film's name. Sometimes the red text has an effect of blood dripping down the text; other times, it seems like a red liquid.
Additionally, high-pitched or high-stringed music regularly notifies the audience that there will be an atmosphere of unease, suspense, tension, caution, and curiosity.
The opening and title sequences establish the genre through conventional elements.
For 'Beware of the 20', the title sequence will follow most conventional horror aspects. There will be a black and white glitched background with a red italicized font. This font is commonly overused in horror films and has a suspenseful texture to it. Additionally, high-pitched stringed music will lure the audience into the atmosphere of unease and tension. There will be a violin playing throughout the ten-second sequence. This application of instrument was inspired by the horror film Insidious. Insidious is sometimes identified from its high-pitched, nerve-wracking, and unsettling violin music throughout the title sequence.
The title sequence will be animated, but it will be clamorous and noticeable; this will cause the audience to have no choice but to turn their heads to the screen.
